Event Information
Here is some additional information about this year’s race.
Date & Time
The race will take place on Saturday, May 29th, 2021. The 5k race will begin at 8am CST sharp. The Kids Dash race will begin at 9am CST sharp. Please make sure to give yourself enough time to park and get to the starting line in time.
Location
The race, starting line, sponsor village, post-race festival and parking will all be located at the brand new Friedman Park. Once onsite – look for Ladder Fire Truck flying the American Flag for the race starting line.
DO NOT GO TO THE VICTORIA NATIONAL CLUB HOUSE. It is miles from where you need to be. You will not be able to access the race from there. Please use the directions given and reference the map provided below.
Parking - Please Consider Carpooling
Race Parking will be located Friedman Park. We will have signs and parking attendants onsite race morning to assist. Please obey the parking attendants and sheriff deputies instructions so that we can maximize our parking spots.
After the spots at the park are full we will use the gravel roads in the new Jagoe Homes subdivision in front of the park for overflow parking.
There is ABSOLUTELY NO UNAUTHORIZED PARKING IN THE GRASS AT FRIEDMAN PARK. Please be respectful and keep all four wheels on pavement at all times.
Race Procedure
Due to the unique venue, 8 foot wide cart paths, and respect for the golf course, we will be staggering the races and sending people off in “mini” waves. This is to insure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. We will have suggested pace signs for people to line up by (ie “under 7min miles”, “7-8min/miles”, “12-14 min/miles”, etc). Each group will go and be separated by 30 sec – 1 min before the next group will go. Your individual time will not start until you cross the starting mats. We will let runner’s go, then jogging strollers, then race walkers, walkers, and then walking strollers.
Course Information
5K: The 5K route will challenge runners and walkers as it includes Victoria National Golf Club’s back nine holes with winding ups and downs over the entire 3.1 miles.
Kids Dash: The Cook Orthodontics Kids Dash will take place within the park and consist of varying distances based on age including: Ages 3 & under; Ages 4-6; and Ages 7-10.
Course Etiquette – VERY IMPORTANT
We feel privileged to hold our race at Victoria National Golf Club.
Runners must stick to the cart paths. Those that do not WILL BE disqualified. The cart paths are narrow, please treat the paths like the Lloyd Expressway. If you are not passing someone in front of you, stay out of the fast lane! There is a small section of the course where the 5k will re-merge before the finish. Please be aware that during this short section faster runners may be coming behind you.
We will have a trash “drop zone” and receptacles around the aid station. This is the only place you can discard cups, wrappers, etc. Anyone caught violating this policy will be disqualified.
Time Limits
There will be a 20-minute per mile pace limit. This will be enforced when half marathoners begin their second five-mile loop. The time cut off to begin the second loop will be 9:45 a.m. This is due to road crossings and to have a time for our volunteers and sheriff deputies shifts to end.
Strollers
Strollers are allowed during Run Victoria. Please note the constant up and downhill changes, tight turns, and narrow cart paths. We strongly recommend making sure your child is buckled into the stroller and you have a safety wrist strap on your stroller.
Timing
The event will be chip timed by Rise Up and Run Race Productions. Your timing chip is on your bib, so please do not cut or alter you bib in any way. Finisher results will be available onsite after the event, and will be posted to the website and Facebook within 36 hours of the race.
Aid Stations
There will be one water aid station on the 5k route. In case of “emergency” there are bathrooms located in the course tunnels you will run through. There will also be water, refreshments and goodies at the finish line.
Awards
There are separate categories for runners and walkers. Running awards will be given to the first place male and female overall finishers, and then by age group. Walking awards will be given to only the top 3 male and top 3 female overall. We will announce and recognize winners at the East Pavillion of Friedman Park. We are planning on 5k Awards at 9am. Awards that are not picked up can be picked up at Ultimate Fit starting Tuesday, May 30st.
In-Climate Weather / Cancellation
The race will take place rain or shine. No refunds will be given due to unforeseen circumstances/act of god if the race is cancelled. The Boonville Township Fire Department will be onsite to help make the call in case of lighting or other severe weather.
The fees will be donated to the cause (Warrick Trails). There is no makeup date.
