Trails Make Our Community Safer and Healthier
Trails for walking and exercise promote physical activity and boost personal health. According to the Surgeon General, 40% of adults do not engage in leisure-time physical activity. In Warrick County, 32% of the population is obese. Physical activity helps control weight, it lowers the risk for heart disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer, and it can reduce depression and anxiety.
One of my personal objectives is to try to get mothers pushing strollers and people jogging and people riding bikes off shoulders of the roadways and onto paths, in an environment that encourages exercise, health, and safety.Howard Nevins
We believe Warrick County Indiana residents and visitors deserve the highest quality of life in a healthy and economically thriving community. We advocate this belief by working for the development of a network of trails and pathways that allow walking, running and bicycling through the region’s most scenic areas while connecting schools, parks, ball fields and gathering spots. This trail system will provide a safe and healthy means of transportation and recreation throughout Warrick County.
The Warrick Trails project is donor-supported, means we rely on donations. Learn how you can help us make this happen.
